Past Program:

10th Mountain Division
Living History Demonstration

1 - 3 PM
Saturday, March 1, 2003
Chautauqua Community House,
900 Baseline Road, Boulder 80302

Meet the historians who help to preserve the 10th Mountain Division's history. Explore the equipment they used. Try on a rucksack loaded with gear, put on a pair of army hiking boots, learn about the outdoor survival equipment that was state-of-the-art in the 1940's.

The Tenth Mountain Division Living History Display Group, a non-profit organization, is providing their expertise and many artifacts to help us create a dynamic, interactive display of the equipment and clothing used by the men of the 10th Mountain Division during WWII. Examples of the earliest hand-held portable radios, reversible tents, skis, rucksacks, camping stoves, sleeping bags and medical equipment will be on display. This equipment was state-of-the-art in 1942 and is similar to equipment still used today by mountaineers.

This event runs concurrently with our Alpine Warriors exhibit, which tells the story of the 10th Mountain Division, an army division that trained in the mountains of Colorado to fight in the mountains of Europe. The exhibit will be up through May 30th, 2003.
