Brownie Program Offerings
Brownie programs meet once at the Museum for approximately 2 ½ hours.
Each program fulfills all requirements necessary for each girl to complete the Try-It.
The Brownie programs are designed to be a fun and interactive introduction to Museums.
Listening to the Past
This 2 ½ hour program begins with a snack of popcorn and lemonade while we listen to historic
Boulder resident Dee Demon tell tales about her school days at Mapleton Elementary. We will
then bundle up and take a fun walking tour of the Historic University Hill neighborhood to l
earn about some important historic buildings and the oldest cemetery. When we return to the
Museum, the girls will round out their Program day by playing with the Museum’s collection of
historic and reproduction toys and games.

Junior Program Offerings
Junior programs meet twice, sometimes off-site, for approximately 2 ½ hours each session.
Each program (two sessions) fulfills all requirements necessary for each girl to complete
the badge. The Junior programs are designed to be a fun and in-depth introduction to the
Boulder History Museum’s collections, local history and historic activities.
Local Lore
The first session of this Program begins at the Museum with a popcorn and lemonade snack. We will
then embark on an adventurous tour of the Historic University Hill neighborhood to learn about
important buildings and figures from Boulder History. The girls will return to the Museum for a
hand-on history activity to discover the stories of historic Boulder communities through exploring
the object they left behind.

 |
The second session of this Program will take place at the Carnegie Branch Library for Local History in the
Historic Downtown Boulder district. The girls will begin by examining modern and historic maps and photographs
to discover how their community has changed. The girls will use this insight to make and demonstrate
creative predictions for the future of Boulder. This Program culminates in a Service Project that will
help the Museum to get the word out to the girls’ community.
